Chichester RDA group is one of the thirty nine groups that make up the South East region of the national Riding for the Disabled Association. Based just south of the city of Chichester, the group is easy to find with good access both by car and two bus routes. Whilst small in size, the group provides sessions for riders of all ages with various disabilities and as an independently registered charity, relies solely on a team of dedicated volunteers.
The group meets on alternate Tuesdays in term time only between 13.00 and 15.00. We use Hunter’s Lodge Riding Centre in Hunston as our base, including five of their horses. Without them, the group wouldn’t survive. It is up to the volunteers to ‘collect’ the horses from their stables, tack up and make sure they are ready for the riders. By the end of the session, the horses are returned and the indoor school tidied – you would never know we were there!
